After the cables have been hooked up for a few minutespush the trunk release disconnect the jumper cables and RR. Toyota only added variable valve timing in the 2000-2002 1zz Corolla engines. Between the rubber seal and window of your car you should insert the hook on the top of this tool. Tried jiggling the key etc.
